Everyone’s got a life story, and here’s mine.
I was born in 1990 in good ol’ Lawrence, Kansas and, even though we moved 40 miles away when I was just a toddler, I still consider it my true hometown and visit my LFK friends and family at every opportunity. Although I’m still living at home with my folks (God bless those student loans), I’m now the PROUD momma to a rescue Boston Terrier named Franklin who is half dragon and half mouse. #AdoptDontShop, y’all.

Doesn’t he have the sweetest little face?
This isn’t a dating profile but I feel compelled to tell you about my interests, so we’ll start with music. My roots are definitely of the alt/emo persuasion, but I’m really into Americana and blues/jazz these days. Pandora has been a great gift to my eclectic attention span, and I surf channels frequently. I like to daydream about having a record collection rivaling Peyton Sawyer’s.
While we’re on the subject of good ol’ P. Sawyer, I’m also an avid fan of TV shows like One Tree Hill, Stranger Things, Supernatural, Friends, Game of Thrones, Westworld, Gilmore Girls, John Oliver, HIMYM, and others. I’m a binge-watcher and I go from “fan” to “obsessed” within a couple episodes. I’m not even sorry.
My fandom obsession expands into other universes, too: Harry Potter, Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Shadowhunters, Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera, Disney, etc. I love a lot of stuff, okay?
I spent near 15 years in the grocery retail industry (the family business) before we all moved on to bigger and better things in 2019, and I currently serve as Vice President on our local library’s Board of Directors. For several years I volunteered for my community’s local summer festival and served as the social media and marketing chair. I’m a busy bee– buzz buzz buzz(kill)!
As someone who works a lot, and who always has a meeting to run off to, people often ask me what I do for fun and how I spend my time off. Well, there are a couple different responses:
The first is the cool answer. The one that makes me sound exciting and hip: I go to speakeasy bars with one of my hotshot best friends and watch Tara Reid dance on the tabletop in the same night that Stephen Amell gives me a hug before he heads back to his hotel. I share bourbon out the bottle with Ming Chen and a wildly drunk hug with Tom Felton. I’ve kissed the top of Grant Morrison’s head and went to a Las Vegas after-party with Gerard Way, James Gunn, and Jimmy Urine. I’ve been to Europe and Australia and even Hogwarts. I’ve been photographed professionally and my cute lil face is the front cover of a photographer’s brochure. Sometimes my life is a whirlwind of makeup and costumes, comicons and airplanes, and long drives for short weekends.
But in reality, most of my free time is spent in a chair watching TV with my mom, writing (or rewriting) pages, and falling asleep with Franklin on my lap at 8:30pm because I’m just not as young as I once was. And because all those fun things listed above cost a lot of money that I normally don’t have (again let’s bless those Wells Fargo loans). I promise you my life is boring more often than it’s exciting, and I’m sorta okay with that. I’ve been told that I’m the most introverted extrovert to ever exist.
I created this blog to share with you all the parts of my life. From the mundane moments of TV watching and story writing, to the exciting and magical adventures I sometimes find myself on– I hope you have fun exploring both halves, and that it helps you get to know me a little more.
Oh. And I also have one sister who’s pretty cool. We’re not twins, contrary to popular belief.
