Holy smokin’ fudge balls, Batman. I’ve been CRAVING chocolate for the last few days (probably because I’ve been late-night binge watching The Great British Baking Show for a week), but I’ve not had the energy or ingredients to make a full dessert.
Who wants to make a cake at 9pm when the sweet tooth strikes? Not me. But I strongly considered it.
ENTER: MUG CAKE.
I’m late to the party on microwavable desserts for one, which is probably a good thing, but I’m glad I discovered them now. This recipe is perfect for those late night cravings because it whips together in just four minutes and is incredibly indulgent, so you’re not left wanting more-more-more.
Here’s how to do it:
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
1/4 cup Flour
1/4 Sugar
2 tbsp Cocoa Powder
1/8 tsp Baking Soda
1/8 tsp Salt
3 tbsp Milk
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Water
1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract
Handful of Milk Chocolate Chips
Pro Tip: I was out of milk this go-round but I had heavy cream. I used two tablespoons of cream and two tablespoons of water to try and accommodate the different fat content. Worked just fine!
1. Dump the dry ingredients into a large, microwave safe mug and whisk to combine.
2. Add the wet ingredients and mix thoroughly.

Pre-Mixing, with plenty of room left for it to rise.
3. Microwave for 1 minute 45 seconds.
4. BE CAREFUL, IT’S HOT AS HECK.
5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top and cry into the fudgey goodness because it’s just that delicious.
It’s HOT, it’s fudgy, it’s the right amount of rich and decadent. A little more brownie than cake, but still soft and fluffy. Ugh. So good.
There you have it, friends. A super simple super great dessert for one.
Because who wants to share, anyways?
