BACK STORY: I was late sending in my entry for the Hawthorne Heights SuperFan Challenge, so I created a poem to express my apologies and my excuse. Please enjoy. I know I like it.
My apologies, friends
of string, drum, and chord.
I hope you can look past this,
this hiccup in our line.
A blip of fate,
or something obscure
and vague like that.
Something has been
taken
from me, you see.
Punctuality.
It was stolen,
point.blank.
I was pushed against
the computer screen and
the books and the library’s
printer and
my hand was slammed against
blue lined page and
university life robbed me.
Of punctuality.
